A Chat with The Young Rebels Acting Studio
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Jill Knox Powell (owner/instuctor) has been teaching acting for 16 years, the last 3 in Los Angeles. Armed with an MFA from Brown University, big hair and a laid-back style, she delivers a fun, enriching, unforgettable classroom experience. Kids leave with honed skills and a boost in confidence!
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
All acting materials are provided. Students must bring a pen and notepad.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I’ve worked with young people my whole life. I remember how hard it is to be a kid with a desperate need for art and self-expression. Growing up with learning challenges and fighting through them through art has made me a whole, happy person.
What do you love most about your job?
While in my Masters acting program, I enjoyed watching my classmates change forever over the course of studying one scene. There is much to be learned about oneself while wearing someone else’s shoes. There is a permission to let go in order to find yourself again.
