Shhh, don’t tell but the Brothers Grimm didn’t brainstorm Rumpelstiltskin (or anyone else) into being. Instead, they recorded extraordinary stories that ordinary people kept in their hearts and memories, then cut and polished and edited – thus proving that the greatest fairy tales are not written, but uncovered. The Seattle Experimental Theater continues this great tradition of story-collecting in The Wolf and The Witch, an improvised fairy tale inspired by stories gathered from the audience. Before every performance the cast will interview audience members about their lives and then use classic characters to create a new “modern” fairy story. Show creator Tony Beeman also directs these tales of fun, suspense, tragedy and true love at Theatre Off Jackson.
