Buff Boutique may look like a salon—but despite the pristine white interior, the cucumber-infused water, and the salon-style chairs, owner Josh Grabowsky and his team don't cut hair. They buff it off. And that's just one of the spa-like functions of The BFF, the body-buffing machine Josh invented. Much like the rarest type of centaur, the handheld device has the body of a hairdryer, but the spinning head of a miniaturized, vibrating car buffer.
In a typical, 30-minute treatment, Josh's versatile design relaxes the buff-ee's physique in three ways. First, its vibrations boost circulation via dry massage, which the technician performs while the (fully clothed) client lounges in a salon chair, then in a massage chair, then on a massage table. Next, the technician puts the buffer to work on bare arms and legs, its head topped with a microgrit sticker. It's still massaging—it's always vibrating—but during this stage, it's also painlessly exfoliating and sloughing away stubble. The buffing expert finishes up by hydrating the client's exfoliated skin, topping the device's head with a microfiber "bonnet" and a dollop of moisturizer. Client's leave in a haze of post-massage relaxation, typically with skin smoother than it would be after a shave.
