The run is held at Sunset Park on Saturday, March 1, at 8:30 a.m. Registration begins at 7 a.m., and continues until 8 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear white and dress in costumes. A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit the Partnership for a Healthier America.
Tie-dyed T-shirts aren't just for camp crafts sessions or laid-back black-tie affairs. At the Tie-Dye Run, they're a uniform. Racers dart from the starting line in white shirts, which is then doused with a different color of non-toxic dye at each mile marker. By the time they're finished with the 5K, participants sport a rainbow of hues. It's all part of the organizers' mission to "spread the love" with the event, which is also family-friendly, non-competitive, and used to raise funds for local charities.
