Tiger Drive-In Theatre
In 1954, Bill Wilson's Tiger Drive-In Theatre was the place to be, drawing crowds every weekend with flicks featuring black lagoon creatures, femme fatales, and Marlon Brando's award-winning eyebrows. But in the 1980s, the drive-in just couldn't compete with the burgeoning multiplex boom and permanently shuttered. In 2004, however, Bill's daughter Sherryl brought the old drive-in back to life, turning it into the thriving social center it had been when it opened 50 years prior.
The newly installed digital projector ensures high-quality screenings of the latest movies in a fun, retro environment. Beyond blockbusters, the drive-in also hosts special events, including classic car shows, weekend farmer's markets, and flea markets, as well as family reunions and even marriage proposals. No matter what's happening at Tiger Drive-In, though, the revamped concessions stand appeases crowds with a menu as classically American as the drive-in itself, serving up the likes of popcorn, onion rings, burgers, nachos, and ice cream.
