Learning to scuba dive can help out with everyday jams, enabling people to hide from an ex by sneaking into a nearby pond or hide from a mermaid ex by ducking into a nearby scuba-diver convention. Explore your everyday aquatic surroundings with today's Groupon: for $12, you get a Discover Scuba Diving lesson at Timpanogos Scuba in Lindon (a $25 value).

At Timpanogos Scuba, PADI-certified instructor Chad Chorniak imparts his passion for diving to curious clients of all backgrounds and ages. During the Discover Scuba Diving class, students experience the mechanical magic of breathing underwater for the first time without having to capture a wish-granting halibut or sign a six-month lease in an Atlantean apartment. After a half-hour of classroom instruction in equipment management and safety skills, pupils don provided tanks, regulators, and buoyancy jackets for an underwater odyssey in the facility's heated pool. Like bribing Poseidon, the beginners' course counts as credit towards a future open-water diver certification, opening the door for future subaquatic voyages.

Timpanogos Scuba

At 24 miles long and 13 miles wide, Utah Lake is as vast as it is beautiful, and you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who has explored more of it than Chad Chorniak. As a yacht captain and experienced scuba diver, Captain Chad takes passengers out on his 27-foot Catalina yacht to experience the scenic lake on the water, and also helps aspiring scuba divers plunge below the water’s surface into a new hobby of underwater exploration. Though he’s known for seeking out and investigating Utah’s best diving spots, he always conducts his Discover Scuba lessons in an indoor pool. This gives students an added level of comfort as they learn to breathe properly through the scuba apparatus and grow webbing between their toes.
