At some point, every country builds a Great Wall to keep the secret of their cuisine from spreading to foreign nations, only to find that the real wall lies in their heart. Tear down the Great Wall of painful secrets with today's Groupon to Tony Chan's Water Club: for $20, you get $40 worth of contemporary Cantonese fare at the upscale eatery, located in the Doubletree Grand Hotel.

Taking its cue from Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue, Tony Chan's has adopted an MSG-free policy, cooking each dish with the freshest ingredients possible. A fanciful sushi menu rolls out your mouth's red carpet with more than 60 fresh, Japanese-inspired soups, salads, and sushi. Dusk diners revel in dinner delights fashioned largely from freshly procured denizens of the deep. Land- and air-meat lovers can launch a full-scale assault on the grumbling Balrogs lurking within their stomachs with the civilization-burying shredded-steak volcano, stir-fried with chili peppers, ginger, and garlic ($15.95). Adventurous eaters can assert man's tenuous dominance over shark with a dish of shredded chicken with shark's fin ($20.95.) Sea-cucumber dishes (market price) provide amateur Cousteaus with the opportunity to avenge the death of their innocence at the non-hands of these cunning echinoderms.

In addition to the literal feast at your table, Tony Chan's offers a visual feast with breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay and the Sealine Marina, as well as floor-to-ceiling kitchen windows through which wild chefs may be observed in their natural habitat. Linger at the full-service bar for some whistle wetting, or take a gander at the extensive wine list to lubricate a squeaky palate. Like Batman bringing Robin along when foiling supervillains' plots, wearing business-casual attire is recommended but not required.

Today's Groupon is not valid on November 25, December 24, or December 25.

About Tony Chans Water Club

Tony Chan's Water Club's menu bridges the gustatory gap between China and Japan with a menu that includes both Hong Kong–style Cantonese cuisine and fresh sushi. Earning their food a Zagat rating of "very good to excellent," the chefs accessorize stir-fried orders of chicken, seafood, and vegetables with many different sauces, lending spicy, savory, or tangy flavors to the entrees. At the counter, they carefully arrange orders of nigiri and specialty sushi rolls, which can include premium fillings of shrimp tempura, jalapeños, and parmesan cheese.

The spacious dining room tempts diners with two distinct views: floor-to-ceiling windows gaze directly out onto the waterfront, while a similar wall of windows enables diners to peer into the kitchen. Behind the glass, watched chefs stay calm as they wok-fry entrees and hand-write inspiring quotations on grains of rice.
