The beginner’s climbing lesson uses step-by-step instruction on the fundamentals of climbing technique to get students scrambling confidently up the wall. Focusing on personal responsibility and industry-standard climbing practices, the class shows students that safety is the most important component. The gym provides all gear, including shoes and a harness, and after the lesson every student can make full use of the facility. Hourly lessons are Monday—Friday starting at 5 p.m. and finishing at 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays are 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Parents with children younger than 13 who wish to participate must take the lesson themselves before accompanying their child on another lesson.

With 11 distinct climbing areas, climbing walls that simulate real-world climbs, and scaling route difficulty, the vast academy accommodates climbing styles of all types. Inverted caves are a siren's call to skilled boulderers, while large holds and 120 extended routes challenge beginners and experts alike. Training tools such as a campus wall—a wall that works only the arms—supplement workouts between climbs. The gym's classes prepare novices for tougher routes with lessons in the fundamentals.
