On his website, experienced qi gong instructor Zachary Lui quotes a Chinese proverb: "All roads lead up the mountain." The saying is particularly apt in reference to his practice of qigong, which fuses different philosophies—Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism among them—to create customized wellness regimens for clients. At its most general definition, qigong synchronizes breath with movement in sequences that encourage the flow of qi, or energy. Lui strives to accommodate guests of all backgrounds with his qi gong system, aiming for goals such as reduced stress and heightened bodily awareness. With their balanced movements, his qigong classes also constitute a more graceful form of low-level aerobic exercise than jogging after a missed bus.
