Aside from warming our brains and framing our faces, hair provides the only concrete evidence of the existence of wind. Treat breeze detectors right with today’s Groupon: for $99, you get a keratin hair treatment at Trade Secret Salon (a $475 value).
Led by a stylist with more than 25 years of experience in the beauty industry, Trade Secret Salon's talented staff smoothes out frizz using Pravana and Mizani keratin therapy. During initial consultations, friendly hairstylists closely examine each client's hair, taking into consideration the density, length, and number of nesting falcons to determine service duration. The 3- to 4-hour treatment slathers dull and damaged hair in a keratin-infused serum, which absorbs into the cuticle to strengthen and smooth strands for up to four months. Keratin-treated tresses also dry swiftly and resist exterior humidity, resulting in longer-lasting styles rendered with a blow-dryer or wind turbine. Although clients may wash manes immediately following the therapy, a 2- to 4-day waiting period is recommended but will be determined at the consultation.
Some hair-straightening products that claim to be formaldehyde-free include aldehyde compounds, which are similar to the carcinogen formaldehyde. Side effects may include nosebleeds, headaches, vomiting, and respiratory problems, among others. Learn more about the health risks here.

Salon owner and educator Monique Perez-Marini has spent 25 years developing her vision, technique, and training in New York and Florida. She has worked alongside hair luminaries such as Nick Arrojo from What Not to Wear and Hollywood stylist José Eber. She and her team offer fashionable cuts, ginger-infused Paul Mitchell conditioning treatments, and Pravana keratin applications with less than 0.01% formaldehyde. Monique’s specialty is color services, and she uses Matrix formulas that are free of ammonia and, like the best sleeping bags, enriched with softening oils. The salon will use any requested professional color line.
