Unlike drinking alone at home, drinking in a friendly bar is a great way to not end up engaged in a heated thumb-war tournament. Head out for a night of mingling with today's deal. For $20, you get $40 worth of sophisticated eats and thirst quenchers at Traffic Bar & Lounge. Traffic is located in the heart of Midtown on 2nd Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Street.
Traffic's menu dabbles in classy flare without sacrificing any finger friendliness. Tell ma to take look at your lack of fork while eating baked mac 'n' cheese breaded with parsley and parmesan cheese ($7) or a homemade hummus and cheese platter stocked with olives and a trio of gorgonzola, brie, and goat cheese aside flatbread ($9). Please the crowd with a mini burger-madness platter comprised of 10 pint-sized sirloin patties dressed in savory sauces and cheeses on a bed of french fries or onion rings ($28). Technically you could hand-shovel a chicken Caesar salad ($11) or an Asian steak salad ($11), but then the chef would not appreciate your high five nearly as much.
By day, more than 20 screens show the games of your favorite sports companies. After dark, however, Traffic's lights illuminate midtown Manhattan's nightlife, turning green when there is a drink special and red when there isn't. Flowing mirrors reflect the glow of candlelit counters wrapping through cozy lounge coves. Two bars on two levels provide 3,500 square feet of evening playground for drinking brews, scotch, or any of the signature specialty cocktails.
