- $15 for 5k race entry (a $35 value)
On Saturday, September 13, Run Against Traffick kicks off at 8 a.m., sending runners down the shore of Diversey Harbor for an untimed race. Race entry includes a commemorative item; race proceeds go to Traffick Free, a non-profit that aims to end human trafficking.
During Traffick Free's annual Run Against Traffick 5k, participants trot along the shore of Diversey Harbor without once interfering with local traffic patterns. Instead, the run raises awareness of human trafficking, which the organization estimates affects 27 million people worldwide. Traffick Free focuses specifically on Chicago, but also hosts events and recommends actions that can combat trafficking on a national scale, from calling elected officials to flagging dubious Craigslist ads.

“I have heard more and more about human trafficking lately and how present it still is today and it really struck a chord with me, and I'm all about running 5k's for causes that I actually believe in and feel good about donating to (I am a college student-so I try to be diligent with money-the little that I have :P ) So this was a perfect fit !! And the event itself was great, very positive! I am also a very big fan of the radio station that media sponsored it.. 90.1 FM Moody Radio :)”
