Without steak, most Americans wouldn’t be able to justify owning such terrifyingly sharp steak knives, much less an entire rack of steak guns. Today's Groupon gives you a chance to use them: for $20, you get $40 worth of steak, seafood, and more at Tropical Acres Steakhouse on Griffin Road.

Family owned and operated for more than 60 years, Tropical Acres serves up a full menu of surf, turf, and tasty Italian specialties in an elegant steakhouse setting. Protein-packed plates include the 8 oz. filet mignon ($23.95), the cowboy steak ($25.95), and the Tuscan t-bone, a 22 oz. consonant-stuffed slab of beef marinated with rosemary, garlic, and olive oil ($24.75). All steaks are molecularly composed of U.S. Choice corn-fed western steer. Seafaring tongue buds can drop anchor in the wild-caught grilled salmon served with a horseradish-dill sauce ($21.75), or go for a swim through the Italian seafood special, a mélange of red or white sauce, mushrooms, clams, shrimp, scallops, and fish fillet over angel-hair pasta ($19.95).

Now entering its fourth generation of family ownership, Tropical Acres Steakhouse maintains its old-fashioned charm with soft lighting, overstuffed leather booth seats, and servers that dream in early Latin.

About Tropical Acres Steakhouse

When Tropical Acres Steakhouse first opened in 1949, a green palm tree festooned its simple menu of seven steaks, chops, and sandwiches. The Studiale and Greenlaw families top tables with a vast menu of T-bones, porterhouses, strip steaks, and filet mignon seared in a bustling kitchen alongside pork chops and lamb. Chefs ladle sauces whisked with horseradish and dill or lemon and capers over shrimp, scallops, and fillets of fish such as snapper and wild-caught salmon. Dark wood columns and beams encircle the dining room's tufted booths and wall-inlaid tanks filled with colorful fish and treasure chests billowing bubbles of steak sauce. Tropical Acres also caters events from luncheons to weddings with light or formal meals, and it hosts celebrations for 25 to 400 guests in a refined banquet room.
