Tucson Desert Art Museum
Tucson Desert Art Museum is home to one of the finest collections of Navajo and Hopi pre-1940s textiles in the region. The museum allows visitors a glimpse of the past by way of Yei weavings, chief's blankets, and optical art textiles. But not everything on display required a loom in its creation. Works by great Southwestern artists such as Maynard Dixon, Thomas Moran, and Albert Bierstadt line the walls, and an exhibit on Navajo sand-painting details a more ephemeral—though no less beautiful—artistic medium. Regional artists are able to have their works featured at the museum's Four Corners Gallery, a non-profit gallery that uses its proceeds to support the artists and the museum.
In addition to its permanent exhibits, the museum has rotating special exhibits throughout the year, so even visitors who have been to the museum before can always find something new to enjoy.
