The idea of the challenge is awesome... we had tons of fun, but there was some organization issues. You get those kinks out and you will have a even that people will come to every year!

This was an amazing event to be apart of! I understand that because it was the 1st time doing this, the organization was off. Charging people to cheer on their relatives, friends and loved ones was terrible! I couldn't afford to pay for my family to be there so nobody came. That was hard because the support of your friends and family is important in such a challenging event! The goody bags were nice but people like to show off their accomplishments with at least a t-shirt. The staff was VERY friendly and more than willing to help IF they had answers. A secure or at least organized bag check would have been nice. I left my things with they guy giving out the bibs. That was very nice of him but looked sloppy for the organizers. These complaints are not uncommon among the people that did this with me but I would love to come back next year for the challenge! Thank you. Lea Dumag

What You'll Get

Conquering the Earth's rugged landscapes and formidable weather systems has long captivated humanity, from Magellan's voyage around the world to Gene Kelly's victory over scattered showers in Singin' in the Rain. Prevail over nature with today's Groupon: for $35, you get one entry to the Tundra Challenge at the Olympia Resort and Conference Center on Saturday, January 14, in Oconomowoc (up to a $95 value). This Groupon is valid for the 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. waves.

All Saturday participants must be at least 18 years old, and regular entry for high-school and college students is $30.

After the snow and ice has settled on the pastoral, forested grounds of Olympia Resort and Conference Center, thousands of runners converge to hurl themselves at 3.5 miles of frozen terrain and obstacles during the Tundra Challenge. In each 30-minute wave, 200 racers must surmount more than 15 obstacles, including Helsinki Hill, a 205-foot climb up a slippery slope leading to the 50-foot Suicide Slide, and the Tundra Toast, in which participants must roast marshmallows to a perfect medium-rare while vaulting over flame pits. Other trials include weaving through icy tunnels, climbing up 12 feet of cargo net, and crawling under nets while dodging snowballs.

The top finishers, teams with the best attitude, and participants with the longest nose icicles receive trophies after the race, and all runners garner a free hat and beer coupon for their bravery. The after-party kicks off at noon, warming ice-veined adventurers with live music, DJs, warm cuisine, and drinks.

Though the value of this deal varies depending on how close to the event the ticket is ordered, today's Groupon offers the best possible deal for nonstudent participants.

About Storm the Stadium

One of the longest consecutive-stair challenges in America, Storm the Stadium invites racers to tackle a 3,000- or 6,000-stair course that crisscrosses Chicago's beloved U.S. Cellular Field. Groups of 350 racers launch every 10 seconds beginning at 8 a.m., spurred on by pumping music and fueled by samples of food or drink from vendors. Climbers can also opt to purchase more food and alcoholic beverages from the stadium's concession stands. In addition to individual participants, elite racing teams also make the climb; the team with the best average time earns a first-place finish and a thumbs up from a guy who once saw Buzz Aldrin at a mall. Storm the Stadium’s organizers help interested participants raise money for charities of their choice through race pledges; racers may choose to climb for a charity and donate an amount of their choosing.

By purchasing this deal you'll unlock points which can be spent on discounts and rewards. Every 5,000 points can be redeemed for $5 Off your next purchase.
