If grapes could talk, they'd recount their dreams, the first time they got plucked, and the first time they felt victimized by nature's rumor mill—the vine. Taste the tales of the grape with today's Groupon: for $45, you get a three-hour wine class, tasting, and dinner (a $100 value) at Turtle Run Winery in Corydon, Indiana. Classes are held on Thursdays.
Turtle Run Winery’s founders Laura and Jim Pfeiffer create sippable bliss through a thoughtful process of fruit fermentation. The three-hour tasting and tutorial explains the intricacies of aperitifs, highlighting the importance of color, aroma, and balance, and demystifying differently shaped glasses. Taste-testers will swirl more than 20 offerings, comparing internationals and domestics to Turtle Run’s own varieties, followed by a dinner paired with course-complimenting libations. Hosts will also cover the science of wine making, explaining the alchemy and series of top hats involved in turning table grapes into top-notch vino.
Turtle Run Winery, situated on the Indiana Uplands Wine Trail, has been bottling grapes for more than 10 years and grow 25 different varieties, a number of which are made with new innovations in barrel making, wine blending, and grape training. The facilities are open for tours and tastings seven days a week.
