Does "not valid for special engagements" mean you can't use these tickets to see movies in the first two weeks of their run?

Patrick J.  asked on  May 28, 2012

Not all new movies are categorized as Special Engagments. Currently, the only movie that is a Special Engagement at any UltraStar location is Men In Black 3, which will be so for the first three weeks, per contractual agreements with Sony Pictures. Groupons can be used for Men In Black 3 beginning on Friday, June 15. New movies opening this week, such as Snow White & The Huntsman, are not categorized as Special Engagements and Groupons can be accepted immediately. Visit the theater showtime page at and all movies will clearly state if they are a special engagement or not.

You can use most Groupons the day after the sale ends. We cannot provide the business with their complete list of people who have purchased these until the deal is closed, and until then they may not be ready to accept your Groupon.

You can always log into your account by signing in at to check on the status of your Groupon. We will send you an email as soon as your Groupon is ready to print.
