Q:

Was qualifies as a "special engagement?"

Andrea J.  asked on  Jan 30, 2012

A:

Certain studios restrict their flms for the first three weeks of release and are designated as special engagements. Currently only films distributed by Sony Pictures and Warner Bros are special engagements. All special engagement titles are clearly listed as such on our website at www.UltraStarMovies.com on the showtimes pages.

Q:

I'm aware that this deal does not apply to special engagements. Do films you show that fit this category ever have the "special engagement" label dropped after it's been on a while?

Bridget P.  asked on  Jan 30, 2012

A:

Yes, films that are studio-restricted special engagements are only categorized as such for the first three weeks. After that, the films would be eligible for the groupon deal.

Q:

I was wondering how this is a deal as I went on the company website ans saw an adult ticket is $4 each and a large pocorn is $5. With my math thats $13????

sara o.  asked on  Jan 29, 2012

A:

The adult tickets are only $4.00 at our Chula Vista Play It Again Cinemas, which is not a participating location for this groupon deal. The groupon is for all other theater locations, where the value of 2 adult evening admissions and a large popcorn is over $30.

Q:

If I buy the groupon with the iPhone app, do I still need to print it out, or can I just use my phone?

Ryan B.  asked on  Jan 29, 2012

A:

The voucher number needs to be shown to the UltraStar castmember at the box office in order to redeem the deal. If the voucher number is visible on your iPhone you should be fine.

Q:

Can you please list the locations (cities or communities) where these are accepted? Also, could you please censor the profanity on this website? Some morons have absolutely no class>

A:

The voucher is redeemable at all UltraStar locations EXCEPT Chula Vista. A complete listing of addresses can be found on our website at www.UltraStarMovies.com. Here's the basic areas: In Southern California: Mission Valley, Poway, Oceanside, Bonsall, Temecula, Anaheim, Apple Valley & Cathedral City. In Arizona: Scottsdale, Surprise & Lake Havasu. Have fun at the movies!

Q:

Reading the same ?'s regarding the Groupon being usable the same day of purchased, yet printed out on my voucher is the caveat "redeemable after 1/29/12 @ 12AM". Just triple, quadruple checking etc... Are we able to use this this evening (Hazard Ctr)?

Victor V.  asked on  Jan 28, 2012

A:

Yes, you may use your Groupon this evening at Hazard Center. The Groupon voucher automatically prints with the one day wait period info, but the UltraStar vouchers are redeemable immediately. I apologize for the confusion. Enjoy the movies!

Our Chula Vista Cinemas does not accept the Groupon vouchers. The nearest participating theater would be Mission Valley (located in the Hazard Center). I am not certain if Groupon accepts PayPal payments.
