Since the popularization of the laser handshake, the laser hug, and laser diplomacy, laser warfare has ended and glow-in-the-dark space terrain has been recognized as an independent state. Vacation in its craters amid friendly fire with today's Groupon: for $10, you get three games of laser tagging at Ultrazone Laser Tag (a $20 value). This multi-leveled lazing arena adds new dimensions and a second story to the thrilling realm of light-beam adventure.
Laser tag is a safe way for friends, strangers, and estranged parents to serve and volley laser bolts across a darkened, fog-filled court in a tense match to see who is master of the laser. Ultrazone's two-tiered laser arena extends 5,000 square feet populated by movable walls, black lights, reflective surfaces, labyrinths, and glow-in-the-dark space terrain that makes hunting unsuspecting nemeses a fully galactic experience. Each game corrals a maximum of 36 players among three rival teams. A friendly Game Master explains the rules and gives each laserman his or her specially equipped flashing vest and laser-beamer.
When the contest begins, players scatter and navigate pillows of fog swathed in special lighting effects and throbbing with laser music. Fellow men become bar codes ripe for scanning as players blast as many lasers to opponent's vests as possible before time runs out. A full arcade is available to sooth the battle-weary after three rousing games. Or feisty parents donning laser garb to protect the family name can entertain kids there (children age seven or older can participate; five- and six-year-olds may play if accompanied by an adult).
All three games must be used in same visit. This Groupon is not valid during Ultrazone's Friday Frenzy special or for Birthday Party Packages.
- It was so much fun even the parents played. It's got a friendly staff and arcades. The laser tag arena has two levels so you can really roam around. – Anonymous, Insider Pages
- I don't care who you are...hating laser tag is like hating melted cheese on anything...I mean, how could you? When it's done right, there is just no way you can hate it...and this place does it right. – Gabe C., Yelp
Ultrazone Laser Tag
Movable walls, luminous rocks, mirrors, ramps, and unexpected dead ends. These are just a few of the obstacles players face at Ultrazone Laser Tag, a two-level, 5,000-square-foot arena that, much like a spring-break DJ’s apartment, is always flooded with black light and fog. Before separating up to 39 players into teams and setting them loose in the arena, a game master delivers rules and moves teammates to the vesting room, where they grab lasers and flashing vests. As the beat of pulsing music hammers the arena, players stream into the field, launching beams at opponents and attempting to seize their strongholds. When players are hit they aren't eliminated from the action; a computer keeps a running tally of points throughout the mission and awards champion status to the team with the highest count after the game. The facility also includes an arcade packed with video games as well as air-hockey tables, pinball, and a snack area.
