A diner’s oversized booths and oversized pies have long been a beacon of hope for teens dumped after prom and frowny clowns looking for new novelty-sized props. Take refuge in the crispy crust of an old-fashioned eatery with today’s Groupon to Uncle Betty’s. Choose between two options:

  • For $10, you get $20 worth of gourmet diner fare during breakfast, served Monday through Friday until 11:30 a.m.
  • For $15, you get $30 worth of gourmet diner fare during lunch or dinner. Lunch and Dinner are served from 11:30 to close on weekdays and after 2pm on weekends.

Run by a prodigal couple returned home from New York, Robert and Samara of Uncle Betty’s brought back the Big Apple’s flair for wholesome, comforting, yet artful diner fare with a menu boasting gourmet fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Instead of starting the morning with a crunchy bowl of fibre-packed tree bark, peruse the breakfast menu and meet the rising sun with two eggs and toast served with a coice of bacon, sausage, or peameal bacon ($7) or with the omelet of the day with choice of home fries or green salad ($12). At lunch or dinner, fill comfort quotas with Uncle Betty’s 100 per cent beef meatloaf plate including mashed taters and honeyed-up carrots ($16) or satiate cravings with the signature ultimate grilled cheese sandwich, stuffed with white cheddar cheese, homemade mac ‘n’ cheese, and choice of pulled pork or meatloaf ($14). Diners who prefer the pursuit of rooted foods more than meaty dishes can sink incisors into truffle oil-enhanced mac ‘n’ cheese ($15) or a grilled veggie sandwich starring eggplant and roasted red pepper ($12). The experience can be topped-off with an indulgent pairing of a rich caramel and chocolate sauce-covered donut ice cream sandwich ($5) and a fine wine, root beer vodka float ($9), or slippers weaved from 24-karat gold thread.
