What You'll Get

The pub crawl is the apex of American mobile-drinking entertainment: a perfect combination of meeting new people, pouring a few down the booze hatch, and crawling from bar to bar on all fours while wearing a diaper. What if we said you could have all that plus a fascinating historical tale at each stop? With today’s Groupon, $25 reserves your spot on a pub crawl with Uncle Sam’s New York Tours (normally $50). It’s one of the best ways to entertain out-of-town guests or hangout with city dwellers looking for a fresh take on the city’s rich history.
Discover New York’s past on one of the following daily pub crawls (includes three domestic beers):
West Village Pub Crawl: Drink where Burroughs, Kerouac, and other Beat Generation poets ate, drank, and played “Did You Ever?” See the atmosphere that inspired the invention of the poetry slam. Meet outside the White Horse Tavern, 567 Hudson St., at 5:30 p.m. The tour lasts about 3.5 hours, covers 1.5 miles, and is offered on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Hell’s Kitchen Pub Crawl: Discover the unknown stories of the Irish-immigrant neighborhood named Hell’s Kitchen (most are unpublished Danielle Steel novels). Meet in front of Dave and Buster’s, 234 W. 42nd St. (Dave and Buster’s not a part of the tour), at 5:30 p.m. The tour lasts about 3.5 hours, covers a mile, and is offered on Wednesdays.
East Village Pub Crawl: See where New York’s artists, politicians, celebrities, and sports teams have reveled, caroused, and roistered. You’ll probably recognize many of the tour’s stops from famous films. Meet outside Old Town Bar, 45 E. 18th St., at 5:30 p.m. The tour lasts about three hours, covers a mile, and is offered on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.
On completion of the pub crawl, Uncle Sam personally greets you, then pressures you to recite the Declaration of Independence by memory, vote early and often, pay taxes directly to him, volunteer for the coast guard, sand and level his stilts, and wax his beard. Stop going to the same old places night after night and try something new and extremely patriotic.
Note: All participants must be 21 or older and present a valid photo ID at the start of the tour.
Both New Yorkers and visitors like the Uncle Sam’s New York Tours experience. Here are a few of their e-thoughts: > * “I live pretty close to NYC and over the years I have spent many hours in the best city in the world. From restaurants, museums, parks, bars, I’ve done it all. However, I hadn’t seen NYC the way I see it today until I took two of Uncle Sam’s New York tours… I met some people I never thought I would meet and enjoyed a few beers at some bars I might never had discovered. We learned the history of each of the bars we went into and I was shocked to discover how many famous poets/musicians started off in this area.” – Zachary C., Yelp > * “I’ve lived in NYC for 4 years and this tour took me to places I didn’t know existed. The tour guide was very informed, told many stories (historical, funny, interesting, heartwarming) that I had not previously heard.” – TooSoftFocus2, TripAdvisor > * “The tour was excellent, informative, and FUN! Did i mention FUN!? Yes. FUN!!!” – ememCHAN, TripAdvisor

About Uncle Sam's New York
The resident guides at Uncle Sam's New York Tours masterfully navigate the city to give sightseers a smattering of historic sights, hip bars, and chic shopping locales. Leisurely strolls allow tourists to savor the sights of each stop, as opposed to whizzing by on a tour bus or being launched past from a trebuchet. Engaging guides steer guests down Wall Street and dive headfirst into the Greenwich Village digs that have been frequented by creative geniuses for decades. After dark, pub crawls traverse the entrances of some of New York's most hallowed watering holes, and nightclub tours lend tastes of the New York nightlife, along with glimpses of reticent celebrities in rare chicken-dance performances. Uncle Sam's sightseeing sages also conduct private luxury tours, ferrying guests about town in private SUVs and stretch limos.
