Chicago-based LGBTQ sketch comedy company GayCo Productions debuts its new revue 50 States of Gay at Under the Gun Theater. Now that gay marriage is legal in all 50 states, the troupe will unleash its most patriotic revue in its 19-year history. It’s a completely unique sketch-variety hybrid experience: starting with Massachusetts (where the original Tea was spilled), the audience will select a different state from a hat, and that state will become the theme for the next week’s show. You never know if you’re going to get a scene about lesbian ranchers in Wyoming or a bunch of jokes comparing states’ shapes to certain R-rated body parts. Either way, watch for 50 States of Gay to deliver an unexpected mash-up of comedic sketches, songs, puppetry, stand-up, interpretive dance, magic, probably a lesbian break-up scene or two and interpretive dance.
