What You'll Get
Breathing underwater, like eating fireworks, constructing a monument, and getting married, should only be attempted if you’re confident you can do it. Today’s Groupon gives you all the skills you need to mingle with the mermaids for Scuba certification instruction at Underwater Adventures in Hampton. Choose between the following two options:
- For $125, you get a full Open Water Scuba Diver certification course for one individual (a $250 value).
- For $230, you get a full Open Water Scuba Diver certification course for two individuals (a $500 value).<p>
To fully participate in the class, customers will need to purchase their own NAUI or SSI textbook package ($89.95) and personal snorkeling gear (not included in today’s Groupon).
Underwater Adventure’s experienced aquanauts prepare students for a life of h2o exploration during comprehensive scuba certification courses and practice dives. For the first three days, scuba certification begins in a dry classroom, where a certified instructor teaches diving basics, including how to read pressure gauges, follow safety protocols, and distinguish between a dive mate and a shark masquerading as a dive mate. Then, students apply freshly learned concepts in the controlled environment of the Peninsula YMCA pool during postexam practice simulations.
The underwater tutelage concludes with a journey to Lake Rawlings for two certification dives that combine the school and pool-house teachings in a real diving environment. Passing students then receive their certification card, which also grants them VIP access to Poseidon’s exclusive nightclubs.
