- Premium Blend on Wednesday, February 23, at 7:30 p.m.
- Fast Forward: Student Showcase on Tuesday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m.
The University of Arizona School of Dance captivates audiences with 40–50 ballet, modern, and jazz performances every year, featuring a competitive group of dance students culled from more than 400 applicants every year. Premium Blend will showcase both new and old works that explore the sound of Ella Fitzgerald, the choreography of Bella Lewitzky, and the lyricism of Al Roker. Alternatively, Fast Forward: Student Showcase takes a look ahead to the next generation of dance with the work of young choreographers and dancers.
A winner of architectural awards from The American Institute of Architects, The Chicago Atheneum, and USITT, the school’s own 300-seat Stevie Eller Dance Theatre hosts both shows. The design of the building brings together the entire experience with architecture inspired by dance, specifically the dance notation format called Labanotation used to record George Balanchine’s Serenade and the Blue’s Clues “Mail Dance.”
