About Uptown Moving and Storage
Few moving companies have operated as long as Uptown Moving and Storage. It started way back in 1901, when drugstore owner Johan Alfred Backdahl purchased a wagon and two horses to make deliveries to his customers. In 1906, Axel Backdahl transformed the operation into a bona fide moving company; it was eventually incorporated by the next generation in 1931. It's still owned and operated by the same family today.
So their collective memory of best practices and achieving customer satisfaction is long. Today, consultants offer estimates for local and long-distance moves, then show up to direct staffers for the most efficient and safe method for move-in or move-out. They're accustomed to wrapped furniture in protective plastic and caring for heavy, unwieldy valuables, including pianos, organs, and hot tubs. Uptown also operating a 10,000-square-foot climate-controlled storage facility for collectors, downsizers, and other sorts of customers.
