UQuest's organizers transform American metropolises into urban playgrounds, showing each city to its residents in a new light. They populate street corners, parking lots, gyms, and parks with things like giant slingshots, rock walls, balance beams, and gym circuits. They call each locale a challenge zone, and they make sure that no two are alike. They give each team a simple mission: get to the zones using the provided map and complete the challenge, clue, or mission therein. While completing challenges, teams must also solve clues and complete a variety of missions. Teams personalize their experience based on which challenges they want to tackle.
Courses—or arenas, as the organizers call—typically include 20 missions and 12 challenges spread over four square miles, to be completed in no particular order. The team who successfully completes the most challenges within the three hour time limit wins the grand prize, which includes a cash prize and bragging rights.
