What You'll Get

Today's Groupon calms your core and gives it the strength to carry on through all life's bends, loops, and twistywhirls. Take five Pilates mat classes at UrbanFront Pilates, a warm and welcoming studio in Rittenhouse Square/Center City, for just $45. You'll get hands-on body-sculpting attention not seen since the legendary Golem of Prague was blessed by his creator with rock-hard abs.
Group mat classes last 45–55 minutes and take place a couple times a day throughout the week. Take an intro to mat class to learn the foundation of Pilates, or an open mat class or mixed-level mat class if you've had more experience. The teachers are friendly and personable Pilates experts, and the owner is a level three–certified Pilates teacher who has studied movement anatomy with injury-prevention expert Irene Dowd. UrbanFront is a clean, friendly studio with plenty of natural light and cutting-edge Pilates equipment that, unlike the aforementioned animate clay protector, will never go rogue and begin exterminating townspeople.
If you're new to Pilates, this is a great chance to master the magic of a mat on the floor. Pilates strengthens the core (the abdominal and back muscles supporting your spine), which improves range of motion, flexibility, balance, posture, and abdominal strength. Gymnasts and dancers do Pilates because it stresses the use of graceful and fluid movements, and tones muscles without bulking them up. Other people do Pilates because good posture is vital to moving up in the corporate world, seeing over the steering wheel, and sitting down. Plus, Pilates exercises are easy to learn and replicate in a tiny studio apartment or toy boat. Strive for maximum flexibility, even if you're not made of clay.
One Yelper gives UrbanFront Pilates four stars:
- Karen Pecarsky, the owner, runs a good business and has good client service skills. So far I am liking it here. Alot [sic]. – Karen F.
