Grandma had a saying: Pick an apple from a tree—you've got a delicious apple; order an apple from the Internet—get your identity stolen. With today’s Groupon, you can eat locally and avoid identity fraud entirely. For $10, you get $25 worth of healthy, locally sourced food for dine-in or carryout at Urban pL8, a trendy new restaurant in Atlanta’s burgeoning and well-liked Westside.
Chef and owner Betsy Pitts brings her experience as a sous chef at two great Atlanta restaurants, Bacchanalia and Floataway Café, to create a distinct menu that focuses on local, sustainable ingredients, healthy food, zero reliance on cursed ingredients like mummy powder, and affordability. Come for a meal in between breakfast and dinner and try the Greek-style lamb burger with kalamata olives, feta, and cucumber-mint yogurt on a whole-wheat bun ($9), or awaken your taste buds with the barbecue pork-tenderloin sandwich, topped with jalapeno coleslaw ($8).
On Friday and Saturday nights from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Urban pL8 offers dinner, remaining suspiciously closed with curtains drawn and festive organ music playing on other nights of the week. Dinner entrees include the sweet potato gnocchi ($14) and the grilled hanger steak, served with potato gratin, filet beans, and tomato caper relish ($16). With the casual, friendly atmosphere, you may want to stay after dinner for some New York cheesecake ($4) or one of Urban pL8’s signature cocktails, such as the elderflower ($9).
