What You'll Get
After much research, scientists have concluded that climbing rocks offers more health benefits than eating rocks. Harness weight-shedding mobility with today's Groupon to Urban Rocks Gym. Choose between the following options:
- For $8, you get a combination package (up to an $18 value)
- For $30, you get a two-for-one introductory package (a $60 value)
Urban Rocks' full-service climbing gym features 10,000 square feet of climbing surface, more than 100 top-rope and lead routes, 3,000 feet of bouldering space, and a designated training area in a brightly lit facility—just a large stone's throw away from Chattanooga's Riverwalk path. Options abound for spiders of all skill levels. The combination package covers one day in the gym with all the gear you need, and the introductory package includes two adult day passes, gear, and a lesson on how to safely and efficiently control partners' ropes with a belay device. Vertical-enthusiasts can scale 38 stations of faux geographical terrain in the top-rope area, which boasts slabs, roofs, and menacing mothers with rolling pins. Routes are changed often to provide climbers with a plethora of cliff-crawling possibilities. Advanced rockers can tackle the lead area, a large overhanging prow in the center of the gym comprised of steep routes for maximum strength and endurance training. Bouldering with no ropes gives free-spirited climbers the chance to reenact famous dream sequences, and children can put sugar rushes to good use by climbing walls instead of bouncing off of them in the designated kids area.
Padded flooring helps cushion sweaty-handed grippers who take a spill, and climbing lessons and clinics (for additional fees) help climbers reclaim human suction cup abilities. Kids who are at least 5 years old and weigh a minimum of 35 pounds are permitted to climb, though they must be spotted by a parent or an Urban Rocks staff member. All whippersnappers under the age of 18 must have an Urban Rocks waiver (available on its website) signed by their parents.
- the staff is so friendly. I love getting advice from the staff at U.R.G. They’re always willing to work some Beta with you. – Jake Higginbotham, Urban Climber

About Urban Rocks Gym
Covered in jagged faces and colorful tape, the climbing spaces at Urban Rocks Gym challenge mountaineers of all skill levels. More than 100 top-rope and lead-climbing routes rise up to 35 feet, with both relaxed vertical paths and grip-testing overhangs. A separate kids' wall offers lower altitudes for aspiring climbers, bolstering their confidence once they reach the top. Topped by an amphitheater-like roof, the 3,000-square-foot top-out-bouldering area enables participants to live out their dream of becoming a stalactite with a 60-degree wall, overhanging arêtes, and a maximum height of 14 feet. Those returning to the gym will find that its routes are regularly recalibrated, with 15 new top-rope routes and 25 new boulder problems every week.
