What You'll Get
Voted Best of Boston 2015 and hailed as "a thrilling, whimsical, acrobatic beast" by Boston Magazine, Urbanity Dance returns to the BU Tsai Performance Center stage for its popular annual spring revue. Entitled Residual, this year's program includes a premiere by Boston's own Marcus Schulkind, Flashburn by Andy Noble of NobleMotion Dance in Houston, and HIT by Carl Flink, founder of the Minneapolis-based dance company Black Label Movement. Company dancer Alexander Davis will also stage his latest modern dance work, You Own Everything (Everything Is Yours), which uses imagery from Stonewall, Paris Is Burning, Shakespeare and the Bible to tell the story of a gay community "left to negotiate a collective past in the midst of an individualized present." And Chantal Doucett's The Escape -- featuring music ranging from Frank Sinatra to DJ Diplo -- brings the audience on a trip of a lifetime as two dancers are taken on a whirlwind of adventures.
