Baseball is a game of superstitions: hitters don't wash helmets while on a streak, and managers don't brush their teeth for weeks after a great argument with an umpire. Discover your own diamond rituals with today's Groupon: for $59, you get six one-hour baseball training sessions at the U.S. Baseball Academy in Media (a $119 value).
Developed by a staff of college coaches and Major League players including Cy Young Award–winner Brandon Webb, the U.S. Baseball Academy's training sessions help aspiring all-stars smash balls, hone pitches, and sprint bases like the pros. Experienced local coaches lead weekly, one-hour classes for kids grades 1–12. Weekly training sessions may focus on one or more areas, including hitting, pitching, catching hotdog-vendor lobs, fielding, and baserunning. Sessions typically hold a 6:1 player-to-teacher ratio, allowing for in-depth instruction that imparts fundamentals to beginners and advanced techniques to highly skilled water boys. Parents may observe the indoor classes to note the progress of children.

Though they operate more than 200 locations in upwards of 30 states, the team behind U.S. Baseball Academy aims to make each young athlete's experience a personal one. Their four- or six-week camps are taught by local instructors who are current or former coaches at the high school or college level, and typically offer a 6:1 or better player-to-teacher ratio for intense, professional-style training. The Academy's proven itinerary of hitting, pitching, fielding, and baserunning drills was developed by an advisory board of college coaches and Major League players, including Cy Young Award–winner and ace pitcher Brandon Webb.
