Questions and Answers 10 questions

Q:

what is the approximate cost of the insulation removal? I have a fairly "regular" size attic.

geoffrey v.  asked on  Jul 23, 2013

A:

We charge $2.00 per square foot to remove old insulation. Removal of old is not necessary for us to insulate. Thanks Erika

Q:

I have a 50s bungalow. Do you install knee wall insulation? How would you handle the closets that are there?

Joan F.  asked on  Jul 22, 2013

A:

We can do knee wall insulation as long as it is a contained area to keep the blown insulation in. As far as the closets go, we would need to see the area to determine what all would be required. We offer free in-home consultatoins. Thanks Erika

Q:

Does the price include making sure the existing soffit vents are clear and protecting them with new baffling before the insulation is blown in?

Neil C.  asked on  Jul 22, 2013

Yes it does. Thanks Erika

Q:

We have a 13 x 15 room with high ceiling that feels like they didn't blow insulation in parts of the walls and ceiling (i.e., much colder than the rest of the house) before buttoning it up. Do you have a way to check where the insulation might be missing and a way to add it without tearing the drywall apart? Not easy access from the attic. How would you approach this project?

Nancy S.  asked on  Jul 22, 2013

A:

Hi Nancy, Honestly, this would be difficult to answer without seeing your home. We offer free in home consultations for exactly these types of scenarios. We would be happy to come out and take a look and give you some different recommendations. Feel free to call the office at 248-618-3922 and we can set up a time that is convenient for you. Thanks Erika

Q:

i need to have my attic cleared of small animal waste and other very old insulation, do you do that before the insulation is laid? if not can you recommend a company that does? i am in Farmington MI

Paul O.  asked on  Jul 20, 2013

A:

Yes, we do removal of old insulation as well as the animal waste however, this would be an additional charge. This would be done at the same time that we install the insulation.

Q:

I have one of the those small houses on a slab with the high slanted ceiling. I have no access to anything above my ceiling. Is there room in this kind of house for insulation?

donna b.  asked on  Jul 22, 2013

A:

Hi Donna, Based on your description, I would say no. If you are experiencing high energy bills we would be happy to come out and look at the walls/rim joist and price out that for you. Feel free to call if you would like a free consultation or if you have additional questions. Thanks Erika 248-618-3922

Q:

Hello Erika: What is the projected timeframe for the insulation project? Obviously, the Summer is out of the question since the majority of attics are extremely HOT! It is safe to assume that the October-November timeframe is more realistic? Please advise. Thank you.

Ivo F.  asked on  Jul 20, 2013

A:

We actually do attics in the summer, this allows you to see your energy savings riight away. Attic are normally done first thing in the morning to help with the heat. We should be able to insulate for you within a week to 10 days. Thanks! Erika

Q:

I need additional insulation to be installed over insulation that is already there. Since you install up to 17in of insulation for the 300 ft., and I do not need that much, will you spread it over a larger area?

james h.  asked on  Jul 19, 2013

A:

Hi James, No we keep it at 300 SF. It is too difficult to keep the amount in line with the square footage. This is a really good deal that we are offering however, we have to adhere to the amount for labor costs. Thanks Erika

Q:

Besides the additional cost for square feet over the 300 sq ft cost of $99.00, what extra taxes, fees, vent costs, etc? I have a 1,000 sq ft town house style condo, so I estimate the attic at 400-500 sq ft. which is accessible through the bedroom attic opening. There are 4 attached units in my building. Does this propose any problems or extra costs? My condo is in Waterford. Where is your nearest location? Thank you for the info.

alice s.  asked on  Jul 18, 2013

A:

Hello, Baffles are included in the deal however, if you require any other type of venting (i.e. exhaust fan) this is an extra charge. We do not have any hidden fee's or any taxes. We are located in Clarkston. Without looking at the attic it i difficult to see if there would be a problem with the other units. I would assume that each unit has their own isolated attic space but we woulld need to see it to verify. We offer free in home consultations as well. Thanks for consiidering USA Insulation. Plesse call if you have any additional questions or concerns at 248-618-3922. Thanks Erika Heaton

Q:

What is the insulation made of and what is with the foam insulation I read about in the groupon ad? I already have insulation above my ceiling, are you going to add your insulation on top of mine that is already up there? How man inches will be added? Thanks!

Michael W.  asked on  Jul 18, 2013

A:

Mchael, The deal is for attic insulation only. We also specialize in foam insulation for walls. We would put up to 17 inches which is an R49 in your attic and would blow right over any existing insulation you may have. We use Johns Manville Woolbased fiberglass insulation which is also formaldehyde free. Hope this answers your questions, however please feel free to call directly at 248-618-3922 should you have additional questions or concerns. Thanks!
