The Rotary Club of Castro Valley will organize the Third Annual Valley Blues Festival for families and revelers of all ages to enjoy soulful music, local eats and vendors, and fun activities. Adults can sip on beer or wine as they listen to slow-handed licks from a trio of veteran bands. The Daniel Castro Band jams through a catalogue of original tunes and classic covers, and sounds from local act The SolMates encourage a variety of dance styles including swing, funk, samba, and solo conga lines. Georgi and the Rough Week's lead singer belts brassy notes reminiscent of classic female crooners to fuel songs with emotion. Don Jose’s Mexican Restaurant will whip up south-of-the-border delights, and the festival’s barbecue booth will fill visitors worn out from dancing or kids tired after scampering through the children's fun zone with the smoky flavors of savory grill fare. Guests may bring lawn chairs and blankets and funds raised from the event will help to support various charitable causes, including the Castro Valley schools, Haitian earthquake relief, and the local dinosaur shelter.
