What You'll Get
Before the invention of music, hunter-gatherers had to catch wolves and make them howl by dangling tasty Fruit Roll-Ups above their heads. Today's deal unleashes the power of music in a safer place: for $29, students get four 30-minute music lessons (a $76 value) at Vance Music. Students must provide their own instruments for all lessons except piano, and lessons must run consecutive weeks.
Serving all ages of nervous novices and mellifluous maestros, Vance Music offers one-on-one instruction for voice, strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, acoustic and electric guitar, electric violin, electric bass, and accordion. In addition to instrumental tutelage, budding John Cages can break the silence with lessons in composition, arrangement, and improvisation, a form of music rarely observed outside the barren no-man's-land of contemporary wine-bar territory. Vance Music's brigade of qualified staffers, who are active musicians, is well equipped to address a multitude of musical genres, including bluegrass, gospel, jazz, and rock, and they can address all of these in the course of one lesson if set to shuffle. Lessons are offered Monday through Saturday in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. This Groupon is not valid toward lessons in banjo, percussion, or harp.
Vance Music has schooled eager pupils in the arts of harmonic discourse for more than 50 years, when the original Vance, Chester Jr., founded the studio in Kansas City. After moving the school to Wichita in 1972, new generations of Vances have kept the music alive with more than 100 accumulated years of teaching and performing experience. Monthly recitals give rock-stars-in-training the chance to show off their chops and erase their families' memories of that glass-shattering fourth-grade recorder concert.
Valid for new students only.

About Vance Music
Instructors at Vance Music, including many members of the Vance family, draw on more than a century's worth of collective teaching experience to introduce children and adults to singing or musical expression. The school, which originally opened 60 years ago in Kansas City, teaches all styles while carrying on the tradition of classical music practiced by the Vance family's patriarch, Chester S. Vance, an accomplished pianist who toured with USO shows as a World War II veteran. Now, students at Vance can study 28 concentrations, including theory, composition, and performance with instrument or voice and experiment with varying styles of music without bringing an electric guitar into the shower.
