Photographs afford us the ability to look back in time without the hassles of setting glasses to hindsight mode or finding a window furnished with a wormhole. Learn to make time stand still with today’s Groupon: for $45, you get a two-hour Take Better Pictures with Your Digital Camera! photo seminar and a live photography-shooting demonstration at Vancouver Photo Workshops (a $99.68 value, including HST). The seminar runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. and on Saturdays at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Vancouver Photo Workshops’ expert instructors bestow their camera-commanding prowess upon nascent shutterbugs with informative and interactive seminars and demonstrations in a more than 7,000-square-foot studio. The two-hour Take Better Pictures with Your Digital Camera! photo seminar presents picture-snapping pupils with a bevy of tips and pointers to ameliorate their image-imprisoning abilities, covering fundamental topics such as exposure, depth-of-field, ISO, and lens-cap removal. Fill brain boxes with simple strategies relating to quotidian picture-taking situations, such as how to snap subjects indoors or how to demand that the moon stop giving everyone bunny ears. During the lesson, a camera hooked up to a projector allows the instructor to deliver a real-time demonstration of the tactics covered in the lesson, using a model to illustrate techniques such as capturing subjects set against soft, crisp, or squirrel-covered backgrounds. Detailed handouts supply shutterbugs with a plenitude of image samples, and students are required to bring their own point-and-shoot or digital SLR camera and notepad to class.
