A Chat with Vega Baseball
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
This is NOT your typical CASH-COW camp, you know, the ones that focus on many participants instead of quality personal instruction. Coach Gil’s Camps are between 1-4 players, to ensure plenty of practice opportunities per player and to provide near 1-on-1 instruction.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
Practice opportunities, also referred to as reps or touches, are critical to a baseball player’s development. TEAM practices or games don’t provide enough PERSONAL practice to help players get to the next level. Getting more reps througout the off-season will keep players up with other area players.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Witnessing the amount of standing around/waiting time during camps and team practices. That made me realize how truly unproductive they are. I wanted to do something different - provide quality instruction along with action-packed training that gave each player plenty of practice opportunities.
What do you love most about your job?
The thing I love most about my Small Group Camps, is when players leave breathing deeply and sweaty, but with a BIG smile. As long as you keep them active, challenged and interested, they want to give it their all and they look forward to the coming back again. Real ball players love my camps.
