Verboten was already known for its underground dance parties, which over the last 10 years have earned enough shout-outs to fill a DJ set. But it added another dimension when it opened a new cyberpunk setting and started serving re-imagined upscale cuisine and science-fiction-themed cocktails. Inside this new home, a futurist-industrial space in Williamsburg, Verboten offers dinner selections such as Spanish poutine with ropa vieja and manchego, baby lamb chops, and TV dinner specials with three entrees, a side, and a bowl of television waves. The brunch fare has a similarly eclectic feel, with Mexican crab cakes sharing menu space with strawberry rhubarb shortcake french toast, which is much easier to say once you've enjoyed the champagne sauce drizzled on top.
