$69 for a Metal-Manipulating Art Class ($300 Value)
Choose from four classes:
- Pinching Giacometti steel-sculpting class
- Melding with Welding beginner welding class
- Welding and Weaving Garden Art class

Each four- to five-hour metal-manipulating class, which includes all necessary materials, begins with a lecture on the history, innovations, and artistic techniques of the chosen medium. Afterward, six–eight students follow along as the instructor demonstrates how to bend steel into the form of an abstract humanoid in the style of Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti during Pinching Giacometti, weld a flint-and-bone sculpture to a stainless-steel stand using tungsten inert gas during Melding with Welding, weave and weld metal into a large-scale garden sculpture during Welding and Weaving Garden Art, or drill metal into stone to translate a Dakota—the eastern dialect of Great Siouan—word into sculpture during Welding Dakota into Stone. After an end-of-class critique, students return home with their creations in tow.<p>
