The best way to capture a wild, rampaging meal is to hook it with a gigantic pasta lasso. Test your throwin' arm with today's Groupon: for $25, you get a three-course Italian prix fixe dinner at Via Nove, in Ferndale (a $50 value).

Via Nove's stylish, multilevel eatery specializes in the delectable fare cooked predominantly in southern and central Italy, saving taste receptors thousands in travel costs by bringing scintillating entrees to Michigan. Commence your culinary tour of the boot-heeled motherland with a three-course dinner from a prix fixe menu, which presents appetizers such as seared scallop and applewood-smoked bacon, romantically perched atop an Italian-style potato crêpe. For your entree, use your fork as a divining rod to discover the Lake Michigan whitefish fillet meunièr, interspersed with potato, parsley, capers, and lemon; or rest on the pillowy house-made tortelloni, made pleasantly plump with braised beef tenderloin and painted in a vodka-palomino sauce. Then, similar to the curtain call after most high-school plays in Candyland, a double-chocolate cake tips its hat of chocolate mousse and espresso anglaise to raucous audience applause.

Though not included in this Groupon, Via Nove's wine list is a veritable who's-who's of Type A grapebloods, and an extensive martini menu lets runaway olives swim in its above-ground pool.

Via Nove's certified executive chef Joe Beato hails from southern Italy. He learned the fundamentals of culinary craftsmanship from his Italian upbringing and the gastronomic school he attended in Switzerland. He joined the Michigan Culinary Team and won a gold medal with distinction in the 1988 Culinary Olympics.

Reviews

Metromix and the Detroit News each give Via Nove positive reviews, and more than 10 Yelpers give it a three-star average:

  • Stick around after dinner and enjoy some of the best DJs in the game at the Nove Lounge. – Brett Callwood, Metromix
  • Every course was delicious- as was the bottle of wine we ordered. Our service was great- even the server waiting on the table next to us was very attentive. – Valerie G., Yelp, 11/16/09
