About Viand Bar & Kitchen
Situated in the electric Streeterville neighborhood, Viand offers contemporary American cuisine crafted with wholesome, fresh ingredients that are infused with the multicultural spirit of Chicago. This menu of reinvented comfort food is served by a passionate staff in a warmly accented and versatile dining space that can host intimate dinners for two or banquets for sixty.
Viand Bar & Kitchen's chef, Tyler Nelson, had a childhood that revolved around food and family. His large Italian and Swedish family gatherings served food that brought everyone together. After a career playing soccer, Tyler followed his passion for food and enrolled in the culinary school at the College of DuPage. There and since, Tyler has studied under some of the top chefs in Chicagoland, including David Sapp at Timpano, and chefs Jimmy Bannos, Geoff Rhyne, Keith Willis, and Nathan Enders. In 2013 Tyler worked as Chef de Cuisine at Artisan Table under chef Sean Curry in Naperville, where he focused on sustainability and locally-sourced products. Tyler has since taken his craft to Viand Bar & Kitchen, where he brings a modern farm-to-fork flair.
