ACE basin is named for the Ashepoo, Combahee and Edisto Rivers which combine to form the St. Helena Sound and drain a significant portion of the Lowcountry. The Basin is one of the largest protected wetlands and estuaries on the east coast and it provides for beautiful scenery on HWY 17 between sister cities, Charleston and Savannah. The Basin Bus departs daily from the Charleston Visitors Center at 375 Meeting Street and drops off at the Hutchison Island Ferry Landing, both easily accessible and central locations. The Ferry across the river is free in Savannah. If you prefer hotel pick up and drop off (downtown only), just let us know your driver will confirm the exact pick up time on the morning of your departure (usually 30-45 minutes prior to 9:30).
