I signed up at the last minute on the afternoon before the tour and Patsy and the other booking staff were very helpful. The famous Earl was the guide driver on the day. His friendly and caring personality will put you at ease. You wouldn't want to miss his guide, as he was also incredibly knowledgeable in aviation and military work. I'm so glad I took part. This day will be a lifetime memory. Thank you.

Overall it was enjoyable. Our driver was very knowledgeable about the geology in the area and was open to questions. He stopped frequently to share examples of the geological formations, take in the views, and take pictures. We did think we would hear more about Area 51 and the theories or stories surrounding it but that topic was limited. We were referred to a lot of books that we can read on the subject though, which is great for later (if you are a reader) but we were expecting more information to be presented orally. Driving on the playa (sp?) was cool…disappointing that the souvenir shop was closed, although we could tell someone was there. Appreciated being able to relax on the journey and let someone else do the driving.

The Area 51 region and the Nevada desert were absolutely stunning and well worth seeing—but unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by serious issues with our guide, Michael, and the vehicle conditions. From the start, he came across as arrogant and unhelpful. He did not offer any assistance when passengers needed help getting in and out of the cramped back row of the SUV, which made an already awkward situation more difficult than it needed to be. What made the experience even more uncomfortable were some of the comments and jokes he made during the trip. Several came across as rude and bordered on being racist, creating an uneasy atmosphere. At one point, he also referred to me as “Goldilocks,” which I found inappropriate and rude—especially as a 55-year-old woman. It felt childish, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. The driving was genuinely concerning. From my perspective, Michael regularly exceeded the speed limit by a considerable amount, sped aggressively through the whoops on the dirt roads, and even openly talked about breaking the speed limit. His driving felt unsafe on multiple occasions, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the trip. The condition of the SUV added another layer of discomfort. The vehicle’s seams appeared damaged, and on the dirt roads the entire back of the SUV filled with dust. To make matters worse, Michael repeatedly turned the air conditioning off, even though it was extremely hot—especially in the very rear seats. I had to ask at least a dozen times for him to turn the AC back on. By the time we returned to the hotel in the evening, the inside of the vehicle was completely fogged up, which only added to the impression that the conditions were poorly managed and uncomfortable. One final moment that stood out for the wrong reasons was our stop at the Little A’Le’Inn in Rachel. Michael spoke down to the waitress in a way that felt condescending and uncomfortable to witness. It reflected poorly on the professionalism I would expect from a tour guide representing a company. The destination itself is fantastic, and the desert scenery is truly beautiful. However, because of the guide’s attitude, unsafe driving, inappropriate behavior, and the poor comfort of the vehicle, this tour fell far short of what it should have been. I would absolutely return to the Area 51 region—but I would think very carefully before booking with this company again unless these serious issues are addressed.
