Spirit Water was the name given to Lake Minnewanka by the Stoney Nakoda people because it was a sacred and spiritual area. Aboriginal people long inhabited areas around Lake Minnewanka, dating back to as early as 10,000 years ago.

A private 45 minute flight with a serene 15 minute stop along the continental divide at Marvel Pass. Located on the south west border of Banff National Park, Marvel Pass has long been a favorite spot for that special private moment. Flying south from the Stoney Nakoda Resort you will pass the Three Sisters Peaks and fly over the Spray Reservoir and the high ridges to Marvel Lake and the famous Mount Assiniboine, also known as the “Matterhorn of the Rockies”. Our pilot takes you in for a close-up look at the hanging glaciers before heading south to Marvel Pass, where you set down at 7200 feet, close to Aurora Lake, surrounded by larch trees, small lakes and towering peaks. This spectacular location offers breathtaking vistas which are perfect for marriage proposals. You can spend up to quarter of an hour at this magnificent location before re-boarding for the return flight to our Stoney Nakoda base.
