We believe day trips aren't enough to explore Colorado from Denver. To go hiking, camping and bbq in one of the most beautiful areas in Colorado is the best way to get the true Colorado experience.
Itinerary
We will leave Denver in the morning and head out towards Buena Vista. We will get lunch on the way and then hike for about 2 hours at Mayflower Gulch, an old mining village with spectacular views. We will then head to our campground just outside Buena Vista and set up camp.
We will have 2 options. One will be to camp in an undeveloped campground with no amenities like water, electricity or bathrooms. The other will be to a more developed campground with showers, a common room with a fire and electricity.
After we set up our camp we will make dinner together and enjoy the views of the enormous Sawatch Range, which is home to more 14ers than any other range in the state. We have electric blankets you can use which makes the experience much easier to endure.
The next day we can have breakfast and hike another trail near Cottonwood pass to Hartenstein Lake. We will then head just over 2 hours back to Denver getting lunch on the way back.
The tour is very flexible. If you want to stay in a cabin or tiny home at the campground that is no problem. You also aren't obligated to hike if you aren't interested. There is also the option of going snowmobiling.
