Lovely tour, very relaxed. We learned lots of interesting things about the property and the plants grown there. The baumkuchen process was explained and we tasted several flavors of baumkuchen. They sell the cakes as well as some Hawaiian salts and rubs. We were invited to remain and enjoy the property...they had a lovely picnic area.

You get a brief description of the history of the property. We show you our vanilla Greenhouse and give you some background and show you how the unique Baumkuchen (tree cake) is baked on a stick. Hawaiian - German relationships is part of the tour and as a highlight you will see a couple of extraordinary typical German Christmas objects.

We enjoyed learning about baumkuchen and it's history! Their property is beautiful with lots of lush plants and trees and we appreciated them sharing it with us!

Interesting piece of German history in awaii. The equipment is cool and so is the operation. The cake itself was expensive for what you get. Still cool. Mild flavor. Wish it had more . The history of Baumkucken and the property was very interesting. Friendly folks. Try the flavored salts they sell.

It was beautiful and so interesting! We learned a lot about how to grow vanilla beans and all that entails. Our family loved it!!!

What a delightful experience! Learning about the history of the baumkuchen “tree cake” and how it is made on this farm and the unique Hawaiian flavors was interesting. Seeing the farm and the other things they are growing and then tasting baumkuchen samples finishes off the free tour nicely. But if you really want a nice afternoon, plan carefully so that you can do a free tour at 1:00 and book a paid baumstriezel experience at 2:30. You’ll have the opportunity to cook your own treat over a fire (and eat it) as well as visit with the owners and learn even more about their farm and baumkuchen business. This was a highlight of our time on the Big Island.
