I give Captain Gary (of Capt. Dave's) a 5star review. He was informative and engaging, and introduced us to a distant pod of common dolphins. I've been on enough whale trips to know that when we cruise for dolphins, whales have not been spotted. But of course that doesn't mean they won't show up-and Capt. Gary kept us all hopeful. The dolphins entertained us for sure, riding our bow and wake when we sped up. We did not see baleen whales this day. On the exit we were treated with Ms. Capt. Dave's delicious brownies- so, what a way to end our zip-it-it-do-da zodiac trip!

A fast and fun wildlife adventure awaits your family aboard our zodiac-style vessels (rigid inflatable boats). This cruise of up to 20 passengers gives you a thrilling 2-hour look at Southern California’s year-round whales and dolphins. With speeds of 30 knots or more, you’ll spend less time looking for animals and more time enjoying them! Your zodiac adventure will have you incredibly close to the ocean’s surface and within arm’s reach of wildlife. At the conclusion of your cruise, you'll receive one of Mrs. Capt. Dave's famously delicious Triple Fudge Brownies. (Some folks love the brownies more than the whales!) We are a certified Responsible Whale Watching partner with the World Cetacean Alliance located in Dana Point, CA, the Dolphin and Whale Capital of the World®, and the first Whale Heritage Site in the Americas.

Absolutely amazing! CD recommended to us. Chose the faster boat and it was so personal. So glad we didn’t go on those bigger boats. Captain Cass and His mate were so knowledgeable and really cared about the Whales! We saw 7 grey whales! It was absolutely breathtaking! This was a mum and son trip for us and we were the only UK tourists! Highly recommend.

Visiting from Wisconsin . The sun and warmth are wonderful, the ocean views spectacular. Capt Gary and Dae Lynn were friendly, enthusiastic , knowledgeable and professional. The boat was comfortable and clean. We saw 1 gray whale, back and fluke. We saw sea lions on the pier and swimming. We experienced a pod of white sided pacific dolphins swimming and jumping around our boat! The brown pelicans are a joy to watch. Thanks for sharing your California wonders with us :)

I’ve done a few boat tours but this one is by far the best! Captain Marie was great, she located a big pod of dolphins and a few whales! First mate Alan was super informative and even came around to see if we had any questions at the end of the tour. I will definitely be back!
