I’ve been on 5 whale watching trips before (San Diego, Dana Point, Sydney), this was by far my favorite! Even if you don’t see anything you’ll have fun on a Catamaran. There are 2 Underwater Viewing Pods on board, 2 adults can fit into one at a time for 2 minutes. Not sure if it makes a difference, we used them while in the green water surrounded by common dolphins. I spoke to 3 other groups on this trip, none of them were able to see anything while in the pods. Still fun to experience! Everyone getting the opportunity to use the viewing pods does get a bit time intensive, so if you’re strictly hoping to see whales on a 2 hour tour keep that in mind. There are certain parts on the boat where you can’t hear the sound system when the engine is running. I consider myself to have good hearing, the middle seats (not under the shade) and at the back of the boat I could not hear the speakers. Every other trip I’ve been on has allowed me to hear the sound system everywhere on the boat at all times. This is my only experience on a Catamaran, so I can’t properly compare if this is expected or not. Our crew was very knowledgeable and was able to “sniff out” a Minke whale! While exploring they stopped due to a certain smell; it was a Minke whale surfacing! Nobody had spotted it during the first time it surfaced, our crew only stopped due to the smell. Extremely impressive. We stayed with the whale for a bit and were slightly late on our trip back due to it, I believe we were the last trip of the day. Either way, I greatly appreciated it! I’d list all of our crew members if I could, but I can’t remember their names. Going through the “Meet the Team” on the website I’m only able to recognize our Captain, Marie. The crew on our boat were absolutely fantastic and made for sure a fun experience!
