AVOID THIS TOUR! Here’s why…This tour operator never showed up today (Thursday 9/11) for the private boat tour I paid $300 for. I waited for 45 minutes and called them. The information on the Viator site is wrong; the phone numbers and meeting locations are incorrect. Initially, I signed up for the private boat tour for Wednesday, 9/10 and never received any email to schedule the tour. I received a general purchase email with a tour ticket from Viator with no specific time for the private tour. I called the number on the website before my flight Tuesday and it was a wrong number. I reached Chicago and called the Viator phone number asap Wednesday morning and received incorrect information from the Viator operator; he said I just needed to go to the location and boats ran all day. That seemed weird. I went to the Wacker location listed on the boat tour web page but there only a dock. I called Victor back and complained. They said they’d investigate. In that time, the boat tour operator emailed and told me they only had 5p and 715p times open. I had important dinner plans, and those times didn’t work. Had I known they only did evening private tours I wouldn’t have booked the tour. The tour manager (Ilyas) offered me an evening ride on Thursday and we settled for 715p. He gave me an address far from our hotel but we decided to go anyway because we wanted the boat tour. He recommended the sunset tour at 715p, so I booked it. We hurried dinner and showed up early to a weird bar and patio which didn’t feel all that safe. We arrived at 645p (he asked us to arrive at 7p). I called him at 720p and received voice mail. The sunset was gone. At 730p we left. This experience was a huge let down because we only had 2 nights in Chicago. We could’ve had a nicer dinner and done something better with our time. I still haven’t heard back from the tour operator. I’m going to try to get refunded, but I would very strongly advise to avoid this tour. This guy is a mess, and I’m hugely disappointed.

I wasn’t sure if a boat tour would be exciting, but this one surprised me. Being on the river gives you a unique angle of the city that you don’t get on land. It’s a slow, chill ride that lets you enjoy the architecture in a peaceful setting.
