Humpback whales can be sighted in the waters around the Turks and Caicos Islands between January and April each year. These incredible marine mammals migrate down to their breeding and calving grounds in the warm Caribbean waters, from their feeding grounds in the Western North Atlantic (Maine and Newfoundland).
Whether you're staying on Grand Turk or just visiting on a cruise ship for the day, we can arrange the most convenient pick-up location for you. Our Captain will talk you through the day's activities as you take to the turquoise waters of the Turks Islands, where Humpback whales can be seen in their natural environment. 'About Time', our 29ft Century, is beautifully equipped to travel in comfort and safety to the areas where these whales are most frequently encountered.
During the trip, the Captain will ensure you have the best possible encounter with these breath-taking whales, while our marine biologist will explain more about their behaviour. Humpback whales are known for their acrobatics, and are often seen breaching and tail-slapping. You may also be lucky enough to encounter a mother and her newborn calf resting in shallow waters. If the conditions are perfect, there is the possibility of slipping quietly into the water with snorkel gear to get a whale's-eye view that you'll never forget!
