Wonderful and informative; especially enjoyed chatting with Eileen! Thanks for the long video. It really was excellent.

Located only 25 miles from New York’s mid-town Manhattan in one of the most charming Hudson River villages in the metropolitan area, the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center is the historic family home where America’s most renowned artist was born and spent the first 26 years of his life. It highlights early Hopper works and the opportunity for visitors to experience the surrounding environment that inspired him and his choices of light, color, and subject matter that imbues his later work. Truly a unique experience! The house (built in 1858, with an 1882 addition) is registered on the National Register of Historic Places and the museum is a member of the Historic Artists Homes & Studios, a prestigious alliance run by the National Trust of Historic Preservation. We had an incredible visit to this beautiful artist’s home! Loved the tour, especially our guide, Eileen, who was so knowledgeable and passionate and had so much passion information! Would highly recommend a visit!

We had such a great experience. The two attendants were delightful. We'd purchased the tickets online before leaving Nova Scotia and the day of our visit we were running quite late. I called and was reassured that we would be able to use our tickets. It was convenient to be able to easily access the phone number. The house was lovely. Afternoon light in the Hopper bedroom gave it real personality and we could picture him painting there. The artwork displayed was interesting. I was able to take some great pictures as a reminder of this visit. The attendant who gave us directions to coffee and books in Nyack gave us great tips on navigating the town. We appreciate everything!

I’ve been to the Whitney Museum in New York City many times, and Edward Hopper’s work has always been my favorite. So when I had the chance to visit Nyack, I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to check out this small museum on Broadway, it is the actual house where Edward Hopper was born and raised. Just a heads-up: you won’t find any of his famous paintings hanging here. Instead, you’ll get a glimpse into Hopper's life and the environment that helped shape one of America’s greatest artists. You’ll have the chance to stand in his childhood bedroom, see original sketches, his self-portrait, his personal bicycle, and some family photographs. The woman at the front desk was incredibly kind, passionate, knowledgeable, and professional. She really added to the experience. I definitely recommend visiting this little museum, it’s absolutely worth it.

What a great museum for those who appreciate Hopper's work. To be in the home where his journey began felt like a beautiful way to get to know another aspect of the artist. Eileen, who was there to greet us and provide insight into the artist and the exhibit, was absolutely lovely! Highly recommend it to all those who appreciate art!
